Khalil Gibran (January 6, 1883 – April 10, 1931) was a Lebanese-American artist, poet, and writer.
Gibran is the third best-selling poet of all time, behind Shakespeare and Laozi.
He is chiefly known for his book The Prophet, an early example of inspirational fiction including a series of philosophical essays written in poetic English prose.
- The deeper that sorrow carves into your being, the more joy you contain.
- May there be such oneness between us that when one weeps, the other tastes salt.
- For even as love crowns you so shall he crucify you. Even as he is for your growth so is he for your pruning.
- It’s not a garment I cast off this day, but a skin that I tear with my own hand.
- Even as the strings of a lute are alone though they quiver with the same music.
- The soul usually knows what to do to heal itself. The challenge is ti silence the mind.
- Focus on the powerful euphoric magical sychronistric beautiful part of life and universe will keep giving them to you.
- Long were the days of pain, I have spent within its walls, and long were the nights of aloneness, and who can depart from his pain and his aloneness without regret?
- Yesterday I was clever, so I wanted to change the world. Today I am wise, so I am changing myself.
- You may give them love but not your thoughts.
